MISSOURI: Businesses try to stop immigration bills that require use of database (Why? Cheap Slave Labor)

JEFFERSON CITY, Missouri -- The state's business community is worried lawmakers' zeal to add new restrictions and penalties for illegal immigrants could spill over to those who hire them.

Of particular concern is a federal database that allows employers to check whether a prospective employee is allowed to work in the United States.
