Sterling, VIRGINIA: Man Arrested After Officers Find Cocaine Disguised As Candy

Associated Press

STERLING, Virginia -- The candy looked authentic. But police say if you ingested it, you would get a lot more than a sugar high.

Authorities in northern Virginia say they have arrested a New Jersey man carrying $300,000 worth of cocaine disguised as candy.

The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office says the 2 kilograms of cocaine was wrapped in 600 pieces that were disguised as lollipops, chocolates and toffee.

Officials say 34-year-old Miguel Andrade, of Paterson, N.J., was arrested Thursday after picking up a suitcase from Gonzalez Services, a business that among other things, offers members of the Hispanic community a place to ship and receive items from family overseas.

The suspect remains in the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement because he is not this country legally.
