Butler County, OHIO: Deputies now have power to fight illegal immigration

BUTLER County, Ohio -- Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones likened this week to reaching the peak of Mount Everest in his quest to fight illegal aliens and bring Immigration and Customers Enforcement powers to his jurisdiction.

Eight corrections officers have returned from four weeks training in Hall County, Ga., as part of the department's limited federal power to fight illegal immigrants in Butler County. The now have the 287 (g) status that Jones has been pushing for.

"Our flag is flying at the top of the mountain," he said.
