NASHVILLE, Tennessee -- An 18-year-old illegal immigrant is behind bars for the rape of a 12-year-old girl.
Diego Francisco Escobar-Landaverde was taken into custody Saturday afternoon after the victim’s mother called police.
LaVergne Police said the12-year-old girl was raped at a mobile home where the suspect’s uncle was moving in.
Investigators think the suspect planned the rape.
They said he had a key to the residence and knew no one would be home.
Police said they were able to arrest Escobar-Landaverde less than an hour after the victim's mother called police.
Escobar-Landaverde had been deported in 2006 and police said he should have never been in the country to commit the crime.
Somehow he got back to LaVergne.
