JUPITER, Florida -- Like every Saturday since early December, a few dozen people lined a stretch of sidewalk along Indiantown Road last weekend holding signs of protest, periodic sounds of car horns honking in support.
Behind them, their target, the El Sol Neighborhood Resource Center, drew its usual crowd of about 100 day laborers and prospective employers, a place where Spanish is the predominant language.
It also is a place that intentionally does not ask laborers for documentation regarding their immigration status.
Though the town's attorneys and the center disagree, the 20-25 weekly protesters believe the center is flouting the law.
'Illegal is Illegal,' read one sign.
'Mayor Golonka, Shut Down this Illegal Operation,' read another.
