STAFFORD County, Virginia -- Stafford County officials took their first stab tackling illegal immigration last night when a fact-finding group met for the first time.
The Illegal Immigration Task Force includes representatives from Social Services, schools, the Health Department, law enforcement and other county agencies.
The task force will analyze the effects illegal aliens have on county services, such as financial and social impacts. It also plans to engage the immigrant community in addressing residents' concerns about unlawful immigrants.
The task force must report its findings to the Board of Supervisors by April 1.
