RICHMOND, Virginia -- Virginia officials said Tuesday that they are considering a proposal to build a 1,000-bed detention center where illegal immigrants arrested for certain crimes could be held until federal officials deport them.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials said Tuesday night that such a center would be the country's first state-run facility built to hold only illegal immigrants accused of crimes. Currently, illegal immigrants who are arrested are held in local jails, federal facilities and private prisons.

In 2006, police and sheriff's departments in Virginia notified ICE of about 12,000 illegal immigrants in their jails, but ICE picked up only 690, Stolle said. ICE officials could not independently confirm the numbers.
Out of 12,000 illegal alien reported, only 690 were picked up. These numbers are an outrage.
Note to all local elected officials (Republicans and Democrats). You work for us and we don't care how you fix this problem .... but you will or you will be looking for a new job in the very near future.
We, the citizens are sick and tired of local pols proclaiming this is a federal issue and it's not your responsibility.
This is a local issue happening in our neighborhoods, therefore, it is your responsibility.
You are hired by citizens in your community and your first job is to protect your local community members.
Got that or get ready to join the working class in search of a new career.
