COLUMBIA, Tennessee -- An Antioch man, accused of trying to kill a Maury County deputy sheriff, will have to come up with $1 million bond, Judge Bobby Sands said Wednesday.
Cesar Romero Gonzales, 28, 301 Waikiki Blvd., was arrested for attempted first degree murder for allegedly trying to run over Sgt. Mike Diaz during a chase about 10 p.m. Friday on Iron Bridge Road near Fairview Park, according to court testimony.
Gonzales was assigned the bond after Sands said he could find no ties or proof of residency. Sands bound the accused over to the Maury County grand jury.
Gonzales’ brother admitted under oath the accused was in the U.S. illegally.
Sands also wondered why the Antioch man was here instead of in Nashville.
