COLORADO: Career politician becomes Mexican consul (Foreign Government Agent Meddling into Sovereign State Affairs)

In Mexico, Colorado is viewed as one of the unfriendliest states in the United States. There's a perception that an atmosphere of hostility exists here toward Mexican immigrants, legal or illegal.

That attitude explains why business and immigration leaders in the state hope Mexico's president has sent a new consul general to Denver who's a skilled diplomat. Eduardo Arnal, a career politician, recently assumed the helm of the Mexican consulate in Denver.

In an article last month in a publication by Grupo Reforma in Mexico, Arnal said that he will "develop a strategy designed to influence government officials, community leaders and individuals in a position of influence to defend the rights of Mexican immigrants.
