LEAVENWORTH, Kansas -- A man blamed for an accident that resulted in a Tonganoxie woman’s death has pleaded no contest to three traffic-related offenses.
Sentencing for Ricardo D. Flores, 20, is now scheduled for Sept. 19.
Flores pleaded no contest Wednesday to driving without a valid license, failing to yield at a stop sign and speeding.
Flores ran a stop sign Feb. 14 at U.S. 24-40 and 158th Street, striking a Dodge Durango. As it was spinning and traveling backward, Flores’ vehicle then struck a Ford Taurus driven by Amanda Bixby. Bixby, 19, died at the scene, officials from the Leavenworth County Sheriff’s Office reported at the time.
