Waukegan, ILLINOIS: Waukegan votes to proceed with 287(g)

WAUKEGAN, Illinois -- The Waukegan City Council late Monday night voted to not rescind their previous vote in favor of 287(g). Amid a packed council chambers, with thousands of protestors present both in favor and against the measure, the council voted 8-2 to proceed with plans to obtain 287(g) certification that will allow Waukegan police to initiate deportation proceedings against immigrants who commit serious crimes.
