Maury County, TENNESSEE: Illegal Aliens Sue Sheriff for Immigration Raid

The Daily Herald

MAURY COUNTY, Tennessee -- Eleven Columbia residents (Illegal Aliens) detained in an immigration raid have sued Maury County Sheriff Enoch George, a Nashville attorney said Tuesday.

George, three of his deputies, federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, their supervisors and U.S. Deptartment of Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff were sued Thursday, attorney Elliott Ozment said.

The arrests were made July 3 in connection with the search for Juan Villa, 24, charged with the rape of a 15-year-old girl. During the search, ICE agents, with the help of Maury County deputies, arrested 13 suspected illegal immigrants.

Ozment’s complaint, filed in the U.S. District Court in Nashville, alleges ICE agents and George’s department “conspired ... to deprive the plaintiffs of their basic constitutional rights.”
