VIRGINIA BEACH, Virginia -- Public outcry over the deaths of two Virginia Beach teenagers likely will lead the General Assembly to spend more time in next year's session on legislation aimed at illegal immigration, state lawmakers said Monday.
"I'm sure it'll have some impact on the discussion, and I'm sure it'll have some political fallout," said Sen. Kenneth Stolle, R-Virginia Beach, and chairman of the Virginia State Crime Commission.
Legislators have fielded numerous calls from constituents outraged that Alfredo Ramos was not deported to his native Mexico before the March 30 deaths of Alison Kunhardt, 17, and Tessa Tranchant, 16.

Ramos, 22, has been charged with aggravated involuntary manslaughter after his car rammed into the back of their vehicle at a stoplight in Virginia Beach. Police say alcohol was a factor. He had three alcohol-related convictions in Virginia Beach and Chesapeake and was in the country illegally.
