SCRANTON, Pennsylvania -- An expert witness for the city of Hazleton just testified that 1,500 to 3,400 illegal immigrants live in the city of Hazleton.
Steven Camerata, director of research for the Center for Immigration Studies in Washington, D.C., said he based his research on Census data and administrative records.
And while an illegal immigrants consume an average of $2,700 in services more than they pay in taxes on a national level, Camerata estimates that illegal aliens in Hazleton consume more than $5,000 in services more than they pay in taxes.
