Authorities find suspect in Carpentersville
Carpentersville, Illinois -- A Carpentersville man who works for a temporary employment agency used a stolen Social Security number to secure a $173,000 mortgage for his home, police said Wednesday.
In addition, the man obtained an $8,000 car loan, several credit card accounts totaling more than $5,200, and a cell phone account with the Social Security number, police said.
Felipe Osornio, 29, of 812 Monroe Ave., was charged Wednesday with felony financial identity theft.
About a month ago, a 19-year-old woman from Desert Hot Springs, Calif., applied for a cell phone, police said.
She was asked by the company, “Why do you want a second cell phone?”
That’s when she learned there was a problem, police said.

Osornio is likely to face more charges from the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency, since he is an illegal immigrant, police said.
Osornio was unable to post $25,000 bond Wednesday and was taken to the Kane County jail.
He is scheduled to appear in court on March 1 at the Kane County Judicial Center.
