ST. Joseph, Missouri -- A local contractor blames undocumented workers for costing him thousands of dollars in lost business.
"We can`t compete at the wages that they`re paying them and because of that we`re losing out on projects," Shawn, a local contractor said.
Shawn did not want to identify himself for fear of retaliation but said illegal workers are putting St. Joseph contractors out of business.
"I think they are taking people`s jobs, I don`t blame them because they`re just trying to make a living, but in the same respect they`re taking jobs away from us," Shawn said.
He lost his bid to work on this Walgreen’s and Famous Dave`s Barbecue along the Belt Highway to a company that allegedly hires undocumented workers.
