Hendricks, Indiana -- Deportation proceedings have started for 17 illegal immigrants who were discovered in a van during a routine traffic stop last weekend on I-70 in Hendricks County.
A U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement official said 13 of the Mexican nationals have been transferred to jails in the Chicago area, where they will face a deportation hearing. A family of four, with two infants and a mother who is eight months pregnant, was released but faces a future hearing, said Gayle Montenegro, a representative for Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
