Fredericksburg, Virginia -- A woman charged in a phony document scam in Fredericksburg was a no-show for her scheduled trial yesterday in Fredericksburg Circuit Court.
Claudia Maria Zuluga-Agudelo, 39, will be held without bond if and when she is apprehended, prosecutor Travis Bird said.
Zuluga-Agudelo is accused of performing illegal document transactions for Spanish-speaking customers, many of them illegal aliens. She operated a business known as "Tramites La Guadalupana" in Westwood Office Park off Plank Road. The business has since closed down.
Zuluga-Agudelo is charged with 18 offenses, including 14 felonies. Among the charges are multiple counts of conspiracy, forging a public record, forging a seal, impersonating a notary and selling fake licenses. Bird now will seek indictments against Zuluga-Agudelo for 14 felony counts of failing to appear.
