Jacksonville, FLORIDA: Charges Dropped Against City Official After Witness Disappears

JACKSONVILLE, Florida -- The state attorney's office has dropped charges against a former city official who was accused of bribery and misuse of public office, after the key witness in the case disappeared.

Billy Watson, who was the former chief of the Jacksonville public buildings division, was charged with accepting more than $100,000 in payoffs in exchange for city work. The payoffs, according to the state attorney, were coming from a local businessman named Bright Ugiagbe, whom Watson was helping to get business.
