Austin, Minnesota -- In the 2004 mayoral race, high crime and illegal immigration were the primary issues George Dahl used to challenge incumbent Bonnie Rietz.
Rietz won in a close vote two years ago, but has decided against seeking reelection after 10 years in the position. With two new candidates, the 2006 race has not taken the same tone, but Rietz critics are hopeful that whoever is elected will at least try to combat illegal immigration.
