Dillion, South Carolina -- Three illegal Mexican immigrants were sentenced Friday in federal court and will be deported in connection with the use of fake birth certificates at Dillon County government services offices, Assistant U.S. Attorney William E. Day II said.

Three other illegal immigrants from Mexico also pleaded guilty two weeks ago in federal court in the same case.

Sergio Vicencio Hernandez, 38; Eudosia Ventura Gonzalez, 28; and Lorenzo Roblero Morales, 30, were sentenced to time served since their July arrests, Day said.

The three men were arrested along with Hector Moises Hernandez Castanon, 30; Aurora Mejia Mendoza, 31; and Jesus Alejandro Navarro Quistian, 24, after presenting false documents to the Department of Motor Vehicles and the Voter Registration Office in Dillon County, according to a press release from U.S. Attorney Reginald I. Lloyd’s office.

The men presented fake Puerto Rican birth certificates and stolen social security numbers in an attempt to get South Carolina driver’s licenses and identification cards.
