RALEIGH, North Carolina -- Curbing illegal immigration is among the five issues that North Carolinians say will most influence whom they vote for in the election Nov. 7, a survey by the Elon University Poll shows.
More than 12 percent of poll respondents said immigration was the most important issue facing the state. When asked which issues would most influence their votes for Congress, immigration ranked with the economy, the war in Iraq, national security and health care.
