FARMERS BRANCH, Texas -- Farmers Branch Mayor Bob Phelps says council members will eventually take action on proposals that would make it tougher for illegal immigrants to live and work in the city.
However, it was unclear after a meeting last night if and when the City Council would discuss passing a strict illegal immigration ordinance.
City Councilman Tim O'Hare asked the council to consider an ordinance that would prohibit landlords from leasing to illegal immigrants, penalize businesses that employ undocumented workers and make English the city's official language.
