ASHEVILLE, North Carolina -- City Council will consider today whether to pursue getting police power to enforce some federal immigration laws, including the ability to trigger deportation of illegal immigrants arrested for serious crimes.
Proponents say such new police powers could prevent dangerous criminals from skipping bail.
