ESCONDIDO, California -- This city may join a mushrooming number of municipalities across the country contemplating ways to force illegal immigrants from their homes.
This week, the Escondido City Council is scheduled to consider whether it should draft an ordinance that would penalize landlords for renting to illegal immigrants.
Councilwoman Marie Waldron floated the idea last month, several days before Hazleton, Pa., became the first city to put such a law into effect.
