Texas -- An illegal immigrant was sentenced to two years in prison for transporting a suburban full of aliens through East Texas.
Jose Joaquin Ibarra-Calderon pleaded guilty to transporting the aliens in a Chevrolet Suburban from Arizona through Wood County on June 17.
Ibarra-Calderon, who used an interpreter in court, was also charged with unlawfully re-entering the United States after being arrested and deported. Authorities say he has been thrown out of the country about a dozen times in the last five years and has been arrested in four other states for transporting aliens.
Ibarra-Calderon, also known as Rodolfo Sanchez-Fonseca, Jack Garcia-Solis, Jamie Gonzalez Hernandea and Ramon Labra-Gaspar, admitted to having been paid $1,500 by an associate in Phoenix to transport the aliens. Another of the passengers also told authorities he agreed to pay the defendant $500 once they arrived in Florida, officials said.
