ILLINOIS: Police find, may keep, $445,000 (Driver previously charged with smuggling illegal aliens)

COLLINSVILLE - An Illinois State Police trooper found $445,000 in cash in a tractor-trailer in early May, according to court documents filed Tuesday.

Trooper Nate McVickers pulled over the driver of the truck May 1 on an interstate near Collinsville and discovered the cash stashed in a compartment for one of the truck's stereo speakers. Two screws were missing from the speaker cover.

The driver, Antonio Villanueva of Dallas, gave permission to search the truck. Villanueva's age could not be determined Tuesday.
