BOSTON, Massachusetts -- The state Senate has approved a bill sponsored by Sen. Robert Hedlund, R-Weymouth, that would bar public housing authorities from putting illegal aliens in state subsidized housing.
Hedlund convinced his colleagues that local housing authorities should be allowed to verify the legal status of immigrant applicants - and disqualify those who lack documentation.
