The debate over immigration has bitterly divided those who support legalizing the nation's estimated 12 million illegal immigrants from those who want them deported.
But if there's one point on which both sides largely agree, it's this: The bill the Senate is crafting to solve the problem would create a near-crippling burden for an immigration agency already rife with massive backlogs and vulnerable to fraud.
