Georgia -- A new plan aimed at reducing the number of illegal immigrants in the work force was added Tuesday to the primary bill on the issue with just six days remaining in the 2006 legislative session.
Senate Bill 529, sponsored by state Sen. Chip Rogers (R-Woodstock), already included a provision that would require all state and local government entities, as well as all companies that work for them, to enroll in a free federal program that checks the legal status of new hires quickly and electronically.
