Iowa -- Two Cedar Rapids businessmen who arrived in the United States illegally and worked long hours to build up assets that included four Mexican restaurants and homes worth more than $350,000 had been living an American Dream.
The dream was one that a lot of Americans have -- that they would not have to pay taxes -- and that's not a dream that should be encouraged, Assistant U.S. Attorney Rich Murphy said Monday during Luis Armando Varela-Arteaga's sentencing.
