Tonight, more than four years after 9/11, thousands of foreigners will succeed in covertly entering the United States, and we have no idea who they are. This will happen again tomorrow night, and the night after, and every night of the year, until we erect an effective border fence.
Statistics on U.S. Border Patrol apprehensions show significant increases in 2004 and 2005, though everyone understands this is a small fraction of those foreigners attempting illegal entry into the U.S. Millions every year succeed in entering without detection. Apprehensions along the southern border make up about 97 percent of total apprehensions.
