CHARLOTTE, North Carolina -- Authorities say an illegal immigrant was intoxicated when his vehicle slammed into two others early Friday morning on Interstate 485. The crash killed a University of North Carolina at Charlotte freshman.
Police say a Ford Expedition driven by Jorge Hernandez was traveling northbound in the interstate’s southbound lanes around 12:30 a.m. and struck a car head-on, killing 18-year-old Min Chang. Police say Hernandez was traveling at speeds in excess of 100 mph.
