North Dakota: Police arrest 18 illegal immigrants

Bismarck Tribune

North Dakota -- Eighteen illegal aliens awoke Friday morning to a rap, rap, rapping on their motel doors.

Bismarck Police assisted in the arrest of the illegal immigrants, which took place at about 6 a.m. at the Motel 6.

Tim Counts, spokesman for the regional Immigration and Customs Enforcement office, said the 18 aliens - 17 men and one woman - were likely from Mexico. They were working locally in the roofing industry, Counts said, and are now in ICE custody at county jails in the Bismarck area, facing deportation proceedings.

The arrests Friday were the result of an ongoing investigation into illegal immigrants staying at the motel. Two men were arrested there Sunday and charged with gross sexual imposition in a case involving two 13-year-old Belcourt girls. That case prompted an Amber Alert last weekend. Six other men who were staying at the hotel, all illegal aliens, also were arrested this week, along with two illegal aliens at the Bis-Man Transit Station on East Rosser Avenue.
