RALEIGH, North Carolina -- Eyewitness News has learned that the Department of Homeland Security raided a hangar at a North Carolina airport Tuesday, arresting several alleged illegal aliens working on U.S. Navy planes.
A source says agents from the Immigration and Customs Enforcement office (ICE) in Wake County conducted the raid, which was part of an effort called "Operation Shield America." The operation is designed to find illegal aliens doing work for the Pentagon.
It happened at the Smith Reynolds Airport in Winston-Salem. Federal agents swarmed a company called Aerospace Manufacturing, Incorporated, on Tuesday and arrested nine people they believe are working illegally in the United States.
