ODESSA, Texas -- A former border patrol agent convicted of letting drug couriers slip through a checkpoint was sentenced to 10 1/2 years in federal prison.
Aldo Manuel Erives pleaded guilty in May to conspiracy to possess a controlled substance and was sentenced Wednesday. He admitted that he, his brother and another agent were paid more than $5,000 to let more than 11 pounds of cocaine pass through the Sierra Blanca checkpoint.
