Arizona: Border Patrol's Yuma station busiest in U.S.

YumaSun.com

Arizona -- Outside a Yuma home one recent afternoon, two agents of the U.S. Border Patrol's Yuma sector and two Yuma police officers wait in front of the garage for backup.

This isn't the first time the Border Patrol had been called to sweep the pink house on 7th Street, where the owner called to report suspicion that the renters were stashing illegal immigrants.

Whenever the Border Patrol opens its checkpoints outside of Yuma, all the illegal aliens who were on their way into the U.S. interior get stuck in town, says Michael Gramley, public information officer for the patrol's Yuma sector.

"That's when all the drop houses and hotels fill up," he says.

Drop house busts have become a common occurrence for agents assigned to the patrol's Yuma station, which Gramley says has now become the busiest in the nation in terms of alien activity.
