MORRISTOWN, NJ -- No one has been hired by the town almost two months after the town council took "emergency" budget action to bring in additional help to combat illegal tenant overcrowding.
However, town administrator Eric Maurer said on Friday that he is hard at work looking for the best candidates and expects to hire three part-time zoning inspectors this week .
"It has taken some time,"Maurer explained. "We have received many applications."
When they are eventually hired, these zoning officers would address tenant overcrowding, or "stacking," in the community, Maurer said. They would each make $15,000 for about 20 hours a week until the end of the year.
