MANCHESTER — A Manchester man is alleged to have been running an illegal car registration scam, charging people he knew to be in the county illegally up to $2,000 each to register their cars and trucks in his name, authorities said yesterday.

Florentino Hernandez, 43, of 536 Hall St., came under investigation on March 31 when his name was flagged after he filed 30 car and truck registrations, according to New Hampshire Highway Patrol Lt. William McGee.

Highway Patrol Officer First Class James Berube investigated the case and discovered illegal aliens were paying Hernandez up to $2,000 per vehicle to have him register their cars and trucks, McGee said.
