VICTORVILLE — Illegal immigrants cost California residents $9 billion a year, another $750 million is paid to house 18,000 illegal aliens in state prisons and each year 500,000 more illegal aliens enter the country, according to proponents of the California Border Police Initiative.
The initiative began circulating last week and requires the signatures of 600,000 registered voters by Dec. 12 to be placed on the ballot. If successful it would clear the way for creating a force of 3,000 state border police at a cost of nearly $3 million annually.
