Federal authorities on Tuesday arrested 39 illegal immigrants at a house owned by the city of Yuma.
The arrests mark the first time authorities here have caught a group of smuggled illegal aliens at any of the 235 public housing units owned by the city, even though there have been allegations in the past smugglers have used public housing to stash illegal aliens, officials said.
Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents, acting on a telephone call from a concerned citizen, arrested the illegal aliens at 665 Magnolia Ave., Unit 29, said Yuma Sector Border Patrol spokesman Joe Brigman.
